Only a twenty five minute drive from downtown Phoenix to the small town of Paradise Valley, tucked into the towering red rock of Camelback Mountain, lies Sanctuary Camelback Resort, a true oasis in the desert. Pure luxury awaits in this modern hotel; from the moment you arrive the staff go out of their way to make your stay absolute perfection.
Each casita is elegantly decorated (we stayed in the Mountain Casita); white walls and plush white bedding make for a perfect modern getaway. The bathroom boasts a beautiful deep soaking tub that is perfect for soaking away the desert dust.
WHAT TO DO:
Enjoy your room and get one of Camelback’s luxurious spa treatments. Afterward cool off from the desert heat and lounge by the pool. TIP: The pool is open 24 hours a day so enjoy a late night dip under the stars or at sunrise. Unlike during the busy afternoon, you will have the pool to yourself!
There are countless trails around the resort that offer everything from an easy stroll to hiking/climbing up Camelback Mountain. TIP: I highly recommend visiting in the spring when the desert comes alive. You will be rewarded with a sea of blooms.
Channel your inner cowboy and opt for a horseback riding adventure through Tonto National Forest. You will feel like you have travelled back in time as you ride past sage brush and saguaro cactuses. And for a true desert oasis, you even stop at a secluded waterfall!
HOT AIR BALLOONING:
Drift upward and enjoy sunrise and get a birds eye view of the desert. Take in the beauty as you quietly move across the vast western sky!
After a day spent exploring or relaxing, one definitely works up an appetite. Elements, the hotel’s restaurant, serves tantalizing American cuisine with an Asian flare. You will enjoy sweeping views over the pool and desert as you dine.
Sanctuary Camelback Resort and Spa is the perfect place to get away from it all. Relax, channel your inner cowboy dreams, and get lost in the beautiful Southwest desert. Happy Travels!
