Whenever I know that I am traveling somewhere that has inclement weather, one of the first brands I reach for is The North Face. Their jackets and boots (and lets face it everything else they make) are amazing and will keep you warm and dry, no matter what mother nature throws at you. Recently I was in Iceland, where you can experience rain, hail, snow, gail force winds, and sun within the same hour!
I want to highlight two of my absolute favorite pieces from The North Face that saved the day on my trip to Iceland. The first and most important is the Women’s Thermoball Hooded Parka. This stylish and surprisingly compact parka is AMAZING! No seriously, this thing is completely windproof, water repellent, and insulated. I really put this thing to the test, playing in the snow for hours and horseback riding with wind gusts up to 30 mph. This parka kept me completely warm and I didn’t feel a lick of wind: the only part of me that was cold was my face!
Also as you all know (or should know), Iceland has amazing natural hot springs and outdoor hot pools. While incredible while you are soaking in them, it is quite chilly while making your way in or out of them. I would just throw this parka on over my bathing suit and it was the perfect weight to keep me warm as I scurried in and out of the hot pools!
The second piece from The North Face that saved the day was the Shellista II Mid Boot. All I have to say about these is wow, just wow! My toes were NEVER cold, and that is saying something. I put these things through the ringer.
Hmmmm, lets see: I tromped through glacial streams, went horseback riding in gail force winds, waded through waist deep snow (there was an emergency drone landing incident, lol), went dog sledding for hours, stood on a glacier and watched the northern lights until 1 AM, went trekking through ice caves, and walked through a moss covered lava field. Not once, not even for one minute, were my feet cold! If you are heading to or live in a wet, snowy, icy climate these are definitely the boots for you!
Plus, if you didn’t already know this, The North Face backs the quality of all their products with a lifetime guarantee! Stay tuned for more of my Iceland adventures in the next few weeks!
