I was inspired by the rugged landscape of Patagonia while packing my suitcase to head down to Southern Chile and Argentina (you can read about my top must-see adventures here). The first thing you have to remember about Patagonia is that the weather can change in an instant, and the way to stay stylish AND comfortable is with layers.
Think outside the box while packing your suitcase; don’t just opt for jeans and sweaters. Instead, mix things up with blanket skirts that can be layered with wool leggings underneath for added warmth or make fur vests play double duty by transforming them into a shawl over a jacket (simply put your head through an arm hole). Use a shearling jacket as a top and pile on leather belts to cinch in your waist on extra cold days. Hats are a must! They play triple duty; they keep you warm, protect you from the harsh South American sun, and, most importantly, keep your hair under control on those extra windy Patagonia days! TIP: Find a hat with a chin strap!
Ditch your purse and instead invest in a beautiful leather backpack for day hikes and sight seeing. Make sure you have enough room to fit all your necessities like your camera, extra layers, and snacks.
